Diapers anyone?

All these pregnancy hormones are getting to me... they are making me wierd. I'll explain. A few months ago I met someone who cloth diapers. I didn't think anyone in thier right mind did that so I was fascinated and asked her about it. I never knew that cloth diapers had changed. She had fancy ones.

A month later a friend, Erin, was telling me about the woes she is having from reactions to disposable diapers in her daughter. Being pregnant she decided that the next baby would just use cloth. I told her about the person I met and told her that I would get some too for my year/three month supply. Well, that started a down hill slide. They are all just so cute but expensive so Erin and I went on a buying and sewing spree. I now have such a big stash and have read so much that it isn't sounding wierd to use them anymore. I'm going to try it, at least until baby #4 starts solids. For newborn diapers we decided to make fitteds and covers and bought some prefolds. The picture is of my stash of newborn covers. I think the hibiscus one is my favorite. :)

O.k. and if you don't think I've lost it wait 'till you hear what we did yesterday... reminensing about how much fun I had in elementary school when we tie-dyed in art class I got the kids to tie-dye some of the prefolds! Now with a six year old, four year old, a two year old, a dog, three colors of permentate die, and coustic chemicals, I didn't get pictures of the process, but the kids and I had fun, everyone is thier natural color, and the picture is of the final product. The green one in the center, the one with the smiley face, came out completely random. Crazy, huh? . I just can't wait to use them!

I should have sent Parker to your house for the tie dye project. He's been bugging me to do it with him for about two months. I actually bought the dye and everything, it's just sitting in our cupboard. I'm just too afraid about what's going to happen while we're dyeing (colored kids, furniture, etc.)! I'm glad to hear you made it through without much harm!

Also, how did you make cloth diapers? Or did you just make the covers? I guess I don't get it. My mom used cloth diapers and she covered them up with these plastic underwear type things. The whole thing grossed me out. I'll be interested to hear how it goes, maybe it's better now than it used to be!
