Diapers anyone?

All these pregnancy hormones are getting to me... they are making me wierd. I'll explain. A few months ago I met someone who cloth diapers. I didn't think anyone in thier right mind did that so I was fascinated and asked her about it. I never knew that cloth diapers had changed. She had fancy ones.

A month later a friend, Erin, was telling me about the woes she is having from reactions to disposable diapers in her daughter. Being pregnant she decided that the next baby would just use cloth. I told her about the person I met and told her that I would get some too for my year/three month supply. Well, that started a down hill slide. They are all just so cute but expensive so Erin and I went on a buying and sewing spree. I now have such a big stash and have read so much that it isn't sounding wierd to use them anymore. I'm going to try it, at least until baby #4 starts solids. For newborn diapers we decided to make fitteds and covers and bought some prefolds. The picture is of my stash of newborn covers. I think the hibiscus one is my favorite. :)

O.k. and if you don't think I've lost it wait 'till you hear what we did yesterday... reminensing about how much fun I had in elementary school when we tie-dyed in art class I got the kids to tie-dye some of the prefolds! Now with a six year old, four year old, a two year old, a dog, three colors of permentate die, and coustic chemicals, I didn't get pictures of the process, but the kids and I had fun, everyone is thier natural color, and the picture is of the final product. The green one in the center, the one with the smiley face, came out completely random. Crazy, huh? . I just can't wait to use them!

R.I.P.

O.k. so I never got around to writing an update on K.D. and now the news isn't good. She was doing so well. She ate very well and walked all around. We bought her a calcium suppliment. I even got her a bird multivitamin as well. We also heard that she needed sunshine everyday so her body would produce what it needed. She got outside time everyday, but only at a time it was warm enough because her temperature is supposed to stay aroung 85 degrees. She was one spoiled bird! I felt go guilty and I guess with all my pregnancy hormones I really wanted this bird to do well. But, sometime in the wee hours of the morning on Monday she passed. Luckily, she went down hill fast and didn't seem to suffer. Rest in peace little K.D. The kids took it well and haven't talked about it since I told them Monday.

Sunday as a single mom.

Larry had class this weekend. He was extra busy before because he had finals this weekend. He goes to school one weekend a month, all day Saturday and Sunday. I was on my own for church. I'm the primary president and usually try to get out on sacrament early to make sure everything is ready in the primary room and to take Ella to the little girls room before I take her to nursery but this Sunday Ella was having a hard time and I didn't make it out early.

When I got there, I had one 6 year old, with developmental delays, who was missing, four classes that were missing teachers one of which was the nursery leader, a missing counselor, a visiting high counsel member and all the kids were way off because we moved the chairs around and they are still getting use to the change. Luckily the missing child was my first councelor's son and so she grabbed a teacher and a couple of volunteers and went searching for him. My secretary went and held the fort down in nursery so I was able to drop off Ella but didn't have a chance to take her to the potty. I got word that the nursery leader was coming but that Ella was throwing the biggest fit anyone had ever seen. Hmmmm... tell them I'll come as soon as I can turn the time over for Music.

Ten minutes later I hear word that Ella is still screaming but that the nursery leader was there. After I got things situated enough to start and the high councilman spoke to the kids I headed out to save the nursery leader from Ella's wrath and to see if they found the missing 6 year old. Our new Music leader was on his own. They had found him and my second councilor was going to be able to do the sharing time she had planned. Phewwww!

I finally get into nursery to find Ella in the corner, laying under chairs, crying. By this time the sweet nursery leader had given up trying to coax her out of it. This is NOT normal behavior for Ella. Well... royal fits are not totally out of character but she LOVES nursery and kept asking when she was going to be able to go. I pull her out and hold her. She cuddles right in. I'm trying to talk with her about what is wrong when I start feeling very wet. Hmmm... I think I just found out what was wrong. She hadn't had an accident for at least a month anywhere so I brought her in regular panties. I was planning on taking her as soon as I could come in but she didn't make it. Hmmm... what to do. I did bring extra panties but not an extra dress. Can the primary president take her kids out of primary and leave her new counselor (she hasn't even been set a part yet) to go home? I went searching for at least a shirt. My new bishopric counselor stops and we talk about all the callings we need to make. Even though Ella is standing next to me sopping wet I take the time to discuss this with him. I really don't want next week to be as crazy. I get away and the third person I ask, my last hope, had a little jumper in their car. YEA! Not a whole outfit but it did the trick. I get her back in nursery but she was still hesitant so I promise that I'm just going to check on primary and that I'll come back and check on her. She's o.k. with that. Primary is doing fine but I was still missing a Sunbeam teacher. I track her down, she asked to be released and figured she was done. I beg her to come just one more week. She agrees. I go back to check on Ella. She's doing o.k. I chat with the nursery leader for a minute when Caden's teacher sticks her head in the door and says Caden's nose is bleeding. He's in the bathroom. I open the men's room door holler at him. Luckily I didn't have to go in... he comes out with blood all down his shirt. His nose is still gushing and he's holding a very wet piece of tissue. By this time I'm laughing.... Caden's skin is very sensitive and his nose randomly bleeds about once a month. He's use to it. I find his shoes, get Ella out of nursery and drag Megan out of her class. By this time church is almost over and a few people are starting to get out. Caden is so embarrassed and is trying to hide while I am trying to not get bloody. People are still trying to stop me in the halls so I can address thier concerns... We did get out fairly quickly but wow what a day!

I've decided two things. One, kids are made with two. Two are definitely supposed to raise them! I could never make it as a single mom. Boy, I missed Larry! Two, prayers work. For a few weeks I didn't really have counselors. I use to pray that everything would go well especially when Larry was gone. There was one week that I knew I wouldn't have counselors. I was on my own and obviously had to conduct and do sharing time. It was Friday and Ella started to show signs of pink eye. What was I going to do? Who could fill in? I prayed, and the next day Ella's eye was clear. Everything went relatively smooth that Sunday. And now, I have a great counselor and secretary. When things went wrong and I had the help to keep primary running. It amazes me that the Lord can use people like me, (I'm pregnant, have young kids, and one Sunday a month I'm a single mom), and still have his church run relatively smoothly. It amazes me how much he has helped me full fill my calling when I couldn't do it by myself. If anyone actually makes it through this blog.... sorry I'm so wordy. I tend to like short messages cute pictures. I don't have any pictures and I'm definitely wordy today!

Meet the newest member of our family!

Larry found a Kill Deer nest at the park. It was right where the mower was sure to get it. He decided to saved an egg and brought it home. We made a little nest in a tuperware container and paper towels, put it under a light, and waited. I had my doubts that it would hatch and didn't know what to say when the kids asked daily when it would hatch. But, sure enough, a few days later we could hear movements in the egg and an occational peep. I started to get hopeful. Sure enough on Saturday it made a little hole in the egg but didn't make further progress until that evening. It's such a noisy little bugger that we caught it in action and we all got to watch it hatch. It was a lot of fun. It's moment like those that I hope my kids will be able to remember (we have plenty of moments a day I hope they forget!). We named her K.D. short for Kill Deer. So far she's doing really well and eats meal worms, baby duck feed, and an occational baby cricket. We'll keep everyone posted on her growth.

Happy Birthday Larry!

Larry's 30th birthday was this last week. He wanted to get the plane that his Dad gave him a year or so ago up and running. He needed parts and asked for things like servos, recievers, crystals, etc for his birthday. I said, "say, what!?!?" Needless to say, he ordered his own birthday present this year. He has had a lot of fun flying it as often as he can. Unfortunately, with schools and working overtime at work, as often as he can is NOT very often, poor guy. I did get him the Settlers of Catan card game with expansion packs so he would have a little surprise and we have had fun playing cards in the evening.
